So what do you guys think about Alicorns? By the looks of things ponies regardless of type can become an alicorn when understanding something completely. What do I mean by regardless? I forget what media it's under, but it's a story about Candace and apparently she was born a pegasus and when she understood love she became an alicorn.

Anyway, I think Alicorns are not natural beings. They are manifestations of raw magic, which would explain Celestia and Luna's flowing mane and tail. Cadence and Twilight might be a different kind of Alicorn since they lack the flowing mane and tail which I think are caused by strong magical powers flowing through their bodies. Now this raises the question why wouldn't Twilight have flowing mane, considering her talent IS magic after all? Well I like to think that Celestia and Luna are way past her skills, currently, they have after all been on Equestria for over 1000 years.

Now unto Twilight's Ascension. I feel like it's one of those things that one protagonist from a game unlocks to make her evolve. In her case it was her understanding on the power of friendship. This could be true as well with Cadence, only she understood the value of love. I got a lot to say about this, but my mind is jumbled up, so a few questions would help me sort out this hurricane of blark XD

But yeah I agree with you, Ghostie. It also explains when Equestria was founded Celestia and Luna weren't there so maybe they were born after the founding of Equestria and rose to power when they became alicorns?

I wish there was a greater explanation of Luna and Celestias past! I'm sure hasbro will never explore that though.

Probably not which is a shame. Did you know that Lauern Faust wanted to make Celestia a queen, but hasbro wanted her to be a princess. Personally I wish she was a queen because she looks more like a queen. Sorry for going off topic.^^

So, from what I heard and (and probably mis-) interpreted, Cadence became an Alicorn because of her understanding of Love, instead of Friendship. WOOHOO! I got one right!

I also got an idea how to explain the levels of power of Celestia and Luna, against Twilight and Cadence. Think of it like this: Twilight and Cadence are just not there yet. They need more than just simple, complicated understanding of their field.

Celestia and Luna probably figured out something after they became Alicorns, which lead to a second ascension, giving them their flowing mane and tail. If we compare this to RPGs, the sisters are of a higher rank than Twilight and Cadence. This, of course would make sense.

And on the topic of Queen Celestia, it's true that Faust wanted to make her a Queen. Hasbro had some concerns about it, which is why they moved to change her title to "Princess" Celestia. It's all because of the classic stories. The queen is evil, the princess is good. Those common descriptions are already implanted on every mind after they watched those old cartoon movies. (Even if they don't know it)

That's the reason why. Personally, I like "Princess" more than "Queen" since to me, it's much more... attractive to listen to. Also, this just came to me, have you noticed that in Adventure Time, there are hardly any Queens? And the only Queen I saw was the female version of Ice King, and guess what, she's evil!

I guess the association of the terms is deep-rooted to our culture.

Yeah sadly queens are usually written as evil. :/ It's just Celestia looks too old to be a princess. I guess one can say (ignoring hasbro) well maybe she's a princess so her and Luna would have equal powers.

Ghostie, I like your theory about the Luna and Celestia being higher up in magic. I'm sure Twi and Candace will reach that level someday. I wonder if they'll live forever as well.

I think immortality comes with Celestia and Luna's level of power. Perhaps Twilight and Cadence have extended lives, but not entirely immortal.

Though it does raise a question. Immortality is often seen as the inability to die. We can speculate that the two sister's lives are long, being alive for more than a thousand years. At this point, we can say that they are immortal, but can they die from unnatural causes? Could they be murdered, or become sick and die?

I think Celestia and Luna cant die from old age. I think they can die from other means. I like the idea of Twilight becoming Celesita's heir.
